DISCUSSION
The subject agreements are to provide professional services for as-needed consultant services relating to transportation projects for the Engineering Bureau of the Department of Public Works.

These firms may be called upon to perform traffic engineering and transportation planning services as the need arises, but are not guaranteed that their services will be required. The services will also provide technical expertise to City staff, and will allow the Department to react quickly to unplanned and unforeseen needs.

The seven firms were selected as the most qualified consultants through a competitive Request for Proposals (RFP) process in accordance with Administrative Regulation 8-4, "Selecting Professional Consultants." The RFP was posted on the PlanetBids website. Seventeen proposals were received, nine were selected for oral interviews, and seven are recommended to provide the services requested. A matrix showing the DBE/WBE/MBE and locality breakdown is attached.

This letter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Linda Trang on May 19, 2008 and by Budget Management Officer Victoria Bell on May 23, 2008.
