TITLE
Recommendation to consent to the assignment of Contract No. 29182 from TruGreen LandCare to West Coast Arborists, Inc., for tree-trimming services; and
Authorize City Manager to execute a contract with West Coast Arborists, Inc., for tree-trimming services with a term ending July 31, 2008, and a total contract amount of $200,000. (Citywide)
DISCUSSION
On April 1, 2008, City Council authorized the City Manager to execute the Third Amendment to Contract No. 29182 with TruGreen LandCare, extending the term to July 31,2008, and increasing the contract amount by $200,000 (attached). Effective that same day, West Coast Arborists, Inc., agreed to purchase TruGreen LandCare's Tree Division, including vehicles and equipment used in projects. In addition, West Coast Arborists, Inc., hired all the project employees who were previously employed by TruGreen LandCare. West Coast Arborists, Inc., is willing and able to perform the contract tree-trimming services without interruption or a decrease in standards.
This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Amy Burton on April 10, 2008, and Budget Management Officer Victoria Bellon April 14, 2008.
TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
City Council approval is requested on May 6, 2008, to ensure a seamless transition of treetrimming services from TruGreen LandCare to West Coast Arborists, Inc.
