TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Manager to accept grant funding, and execute an agreement and all necessary documents with the State of California Department of Public Health in an amount not to exceed $76,726 for Pandemic Influenza Preparedness. (Citywide)
DISCUSSION
The fiscal year (FY 2010) State of California budget included an allocation of State General Funds to local health jurisdictions to prepare for the anticipated H1 N1 Influenza Pandemic. The City has been awarded $76,726 to implement the local health jurisdiction's pandemic influenza response plan consistent with State guidance, develop public health laboratory capacity, and improve disease surveillance and epidemiology.
This council letter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Gary Anderson 24, 2009 and by Budget and Performance Bureau Manager David Wodynski on September 24, 2009.
TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
City Council action on this item is requested on October 13, 2009, in order to facilitate commencement of projects supported by this funding.
FISCAL IMPACT
The total amount of the grant is $76,726. Sufficient funding has been budgeted in the Health Fund (SR 130) in the Department of Health and Human Services (HE). There is no City match of funds required on this grant, and there is no impact to the General Fund.
