TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $500, offset by the Eighth Council District One-time District Priority Funds, transferred from the Citywide Activities Department, to provide a donation of:
1. $500 to the Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association
to support culturally enriching programming at upcoming
community events; and
Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $500, to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.
DISCUSSION
The Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association (BIA) is a proactive organization that pools resources from businesses in the district to fund supplemental services, such as cleaner streets and sidewalks, landscape beautification, enhanced security, capital improvement opportunities, pedestrian and streetscape enhancements, special events, and area marketing. The BIA also works to attract new businesses to the area, increase foot traffic and sales for existing businesses, make the area more attractive to visitors and residents, and improve the overall quality of life in the district.
FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide contributions of $500 to the Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association to support their cause as written above.
The appropriation increase of $500 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of the Eighth Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. The recommendation is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond the normal budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have a minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.
