TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Attorney to pay sum of $300,000, in full settlement of lawsuit entitled Brooklyn Jones v. City of Long Beach, Los Angeles Superior Court Case No. 22STCV31523.
DISCUSSION
This lawsuit involves allegations of employee negligence that resulted in a child suffering severe burns from spilled soup at a summer day camp on August 23, 2021.
Following extensive negotiations, Plaintiff agreed to accept $300,000.00 inclusive of costs and fees - as a full settlement of this case.
The settlement was discussed in closed session, and approved, by the Government Operations and Efficiency Committee (Attorney/Client) on June 20. 2023.
