TITLE

Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $1,000, offset by the Eighth Council District One-time District Priority Funds, transferred from the Citywide Activities Department, to provide a donation to Fiestatelegre Promotions to support Dia de San Juan Puerto Rican Festival; and

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $1,000, to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.

DISCUSSION

Dia de San Juan Puerto Rican Festival is the longest running Puerto Rican Festival in California. It is an annual festival celebrating family, unity, and love while dancing the afternoon away to great music. The event features a kid’s free arts and crafts area and attracts individuals of all ages and backgrounds. The 26th Annual Festival was held on June 11, 2023, at Rainbow Lagoon.

This matter has been reviewed by Budget Analyst Joe R. Guerrero on June 20, 2023.

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation requests the City Manager Department to provide a contribution to the Fiestatelegre Promotions to support Dia De San Juan Puerto Rican Festival. The total appropriation increase of $1,000 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of the Eighth Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. The requested action is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond the normal budgeted scope of duties and expected to have minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.

Respectfully Submitted,

AL AUSTIN COUNCILMAN,

EIGHTH DISTRICT
