TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $250 offset by the Sixth Council District One-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department, to provide contributions to Success In Challenges 2023 Gala; and
Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $250 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.
DISCUSSION
Success In Challenges (SIC) is a non-profit grass-roots social service agency largely serving the greater Long Beach Community. SIC provides community youth and adults with safe, interactive programs that promote good citizenship, character development, creativity, and discipline, designed to inspire them to face life’s challenges with enthusiasm and dignity. SIC is hosting their annual spring gala on June 8, 2023. The event will include dinner, a silent auction, sponsor-a-scholar opportunity, and entertainment. All proceeds raised from this event will mainly benefit the 2023 SIC Freedom School which is part of the National Children’s Defense Fund Freedom School Program.
