Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $2,000 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.
DISCUSSION
The 15th Annual Cambodia Town Parade and Culture Festival will take place on Sunday, April 2, 2023. The parade will commence at 10:00AM at the intersections of Cherry Avenue and Anaheim Street, and proceed west on Anaheim towards MacArthur Park, where there will be a festival from 1:00PM - 5:00PM featuring Khmer artists, music, food, games, and other displays of Cambodian culture.
The host of this event, Cambodia Town Inc., seeks to promote Khmer culture, customs, and traditions to advance the social and economic well-being of low- and moderate-income communities. Its mission is to create a thriving and peaceful community by increasing health access, revitalizing neighborhoods, promoting local businesses, and educating youth.

EQUITY LENS STATEMENT:
Staff will consider issues of equity and access with any program proposals brought forward to ensure the City’s commitment for everyone reaching their highest level of health and potential for a successful life, regardless of background, neighborhood, or identity.
FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution to Cambodia Town, Inc. to support their 15th Annual Cambodia Town Parade and Culture Festival. The total appropriation increase of $2,000 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department of $1,000 each from the Second Council District One-time District Priority Funds and the Fourth Council District One-time District Priority Funds. The requested action is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond the budgeted scope of duties and have a minimal impact on meeting other City Council priorities. There is no local job impact associated with the recommendation.
