TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $3,000, offset by the First Council District One-time District Priority Funds, transferred from the Citywide Activities Department, to provide a donation to Disabled Resources Center, Inc. In support of the Basket Making Party; and
Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $3,000 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.
DISCUSSION
The Disabled Resources Center (DRC) provides a wide range of programs across multiple cities, including Long Beach, that are aimed at equipping and empowering individuals with disabilities to live independently and be their own advocates.
The DRC’s 46th Annual Awards Recognition Event is coming up in the end of July 2022. In preparation for this grand event, baskets are donated to be auctioned that day. All funds are used to support DRC programs such as the Transitional Funding Program. This Basket Making Party is of great assistance to DRC’s annual event. It is appropriate for the City Council to support the DRC in their Basking Making Party which further supports their efforts of building a supportive and empowering community for individuals living with a disability.
STATEMENT OF URGENCY:
This urgent item is being submitted through supplemental agenda to allow for timely funds processing.
FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution to the Disabled Resources Center, Inc. in support of the Basket Making Party. The total appropriation increase of $3,000 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of First Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department.
