DISCUSSION
Cambodia Town Inc. is hosting the 15th Anniversary Dinner of the Cambodia Town Designation on July 16, 2022. Cambodia Town is the official name for a roughly one-mile long business corridor along Anaheim Street between Atlantic and Junipero avenues in the Eastside of Long Beach, California.

Cambodia Town Inc. is a non-partisan, non-profit organization that spearheaded the campaign to designate a 1.2-mile stretch in Long Beach as “Cambodia Town.” This volunteer organization seeks to revitalize the neighborhood by attracting more businesses, visitors and tourists to the area. Cambodia Town is located along the business corridor of Anaheim Street between Atlantic and Junipero Avenues in Long Beach. Long Beach has the largest concentration of Cambodians outside of Cambodia.

This urgent item is being submitted through supplemental agenda to allow for timely funds processing

FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution to Cambodia Town Inc. to support their 15th Anniversary Dinner of the Cambodia Town Designation. The total appropriation increase of $750 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of the Sixth Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department.
