TITLE

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $332 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.

DISCUSSION

A three-day event, Embodying Water for Wellbeing, was held May 15, 2022 through May 18, 2022, which included artistic water dancing and served as a regional draw to Long Beach for this event. It focuses on the importance of water through art, and dance as a way to improve the well-being or all people. The Laban Institute of Movement Studies is a non-profit educational organization. Their goal is to educate people from all walks of life in the language of movement, by providing quality services and programs that enhance the awareness of how movement guides all our lives.

This item has been reviewed by Budget Manager Grace H. Yoon on June 3, 2022.

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation requests the City Manager Department to provide a contribution to Laban Institute of Movement Studies for the Embodying Water for Well-Being event. The total appropriation increase of $332 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of the Third Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department.  The requested action is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond the normal budgeted scope of duties and expected to have minimal impact on existing City Council priorities. There is no local job impact associated with the recommendation.

SUGGESTED ACTION
