DISCUSSION
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) is a non-profit organization that has committed to improve the living conditions of all residents in the Washington Neighborhood of Long Beach. Habitat LA’s Quality of Life Framework program centers around empowering community members to work together to address issues in their neighborhood. A critical part of these efforts include the activation of public spaces for the development of a supportive and thriving community. The Día de los Muertos Event in the Washington Neighborhood presents another opportunity to advance these efforts.

El Día de los Muertos (The Day of the Dead) is a tradition embedded in many Latin American cultures. It is a celebration of life that brings family and community together to remember and honor those we have lost along the way. This tradition is particularly significant to many this year due to the number of lives that were lost to COVID. The event is scheduled for October 23rd and 24th. This donation is to help offset some of the costs associated with the event and further support the mission of Habitat LA in uplifting our Washington Neighborhood.
