DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to amend the above contracts, for the delivery of as-needed construction materials testing and inspection services, to extend the term of the contracts to December 31, 2022.

On December 20, 2016, the City Council adopted Specifications No. RFQ PW16-138 and awarded contracts to the six selected consultants in a total aggregate amount of $36,000,000, for a term of three years, with the option to renew for two additional one-year periods. These firms provide asĀ­needed consultant services for current and anticipated projects within various City Departments, including Public Works, Development Services, Long Beach Airport, Energy Resources, Parks, Recreation and Marine, and Water.

The current contracts expire on December 31, 2021, and the City has exhausted all renewal options. The procurement process for the next set of on-call consultants is currently in progress but has been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Extending the term of the current contracts one additional year will ensure continuity of contracted deliverables and provide adequate time for staff to complete the procurement process without interruption of services.
