TITLE

DISCUSSION
On January 6, 2009, the City Council approved a recommendation by the Long Beach Airport (Airport) to enter into an Other Transaction Agreement (OTA) with the U.S.
Department of Homeland Security, Transportation Security Administration (TSA) , for the installation of additional security equipment, including additional cameras, at the Airport.
The OTA would require the Airport to contract for the design, project management, and installation of the security equipment and agree to own and maintain the improvements.
The TSA would reimburse the Airport for the cost of the new equipment. A copy of the City Council letter dated January 6, 2009, is attached.

The City Council also approved a recommendation to enter into a contract with the Airport's service provider, ARINC, Incorporated (ARINC), which is currently under a separate contract with the Airport to provide on-going maintenance for the Airport's security system. The authorized amount, which included a 15 percent contingency, was $402,500.

To date, a contract has not been executed with ARINC, because further review of the existing security system determined that additional storage capacity would be required for the data collected by the new cameras, in order to ensure that the overall system continues to function at its current level.
