TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $147,400, offset by the Sixth Council District One-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide contributions to various organizations;
Increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Economic Development Department by $25,000, offset by the Sixth Council District One-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to fund bilingual workforce and economic development support in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and related economic emergency; and
Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $172,400 to offset transfers to the City Manager and Economic Development Departments for donations to various organizations.
DISCUSSION
The Sixth Council District would like to provide funding support for various organizations, services, and special events in Central Long Beach. Attachment A provides a list of these organizations, programs, and special events, as well as the contribution amount. This recommendation allows these contributions to be funded from the Sixth Council District's District Priority Funds that have been allocated to Council Districts by City Council to be spent on eligible one-time uses.
This matter was reviewed by Revenue Management Officer Geraldine Alejo on December 3,2020.
STATEMENT OF URGENCY:
With limited meetings during December, the funds are needed by the various organization to meet community needs.
FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation provides District Priority Funds to support various organizations that support Central Long Beach. The total appropriation increase of $147,400 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department is offset by the Sixth Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the Citywide Activities Department. The total appropriation increase of $25,000 in the General Fund Group in the Economic Development Department is also offset by the Sixth Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the Citywide Activities Department. Implementing this recommendation is anticipated to result in a minimal impact on staff hours beyond normal budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have a minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.
