DISCUSSION
Hispanas Organized for Political Equality (HOPE) is a non-profit, non-partisan, organization committed to ensuring political and economic parity for Latinas through leadership, advocacy and education to benefit all communities and the status of women. HOPE has created a Leadership institute for Latinas which spans nine months of training sessions, academic seminars, personal assessments, group work, group presentations, lobbying and advocacy, field trips, and networking events.
HOPE has created a pipeline of nearly 600 Latinas, many of whom serve in public office, or on statewide boards and commissions. Alumnae represent all major regions of California and cross-cut professional sectors. This Council has had the pleasure of seeing HOPE Alumnae be elected to the Senate and local talented Latinas from Long Beach including City employees are or have been a part of the program.

A contribution of $15,000 to HOPE would assist in facilitating Latina Empowerment Day (LED). LED is a one-day intensive workshop series created to empower Latinas increase their community impact through advocacy and to strengthen their skills and knowledge on a variety of issues. Typically, LED is hosted in Long Beach at Hotel Maya, but given the COVID-19 pandemic, the event may be hosted on a virtual platform from the City of Long Beach.
