TITLE
WITHDRAWN
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $20,000, offset by the Sixth Council District One-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a contribution to Tranquility Counseling Services for continued COVID-19 basic needs programming efforts; and

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $20,000 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.

DISCUSSION
Non-profit organizations have been a great asset to the community by serving as liaisons to assist with basic needs such as food, diapers, rental assistance, and shelter for residents affected by COVID-19 circumstances such as the illness itself or reduction of work hours. Tranquility Counseling has been serving the Central area through the COVID-19 pandemic by providing food, school supplies, and assistance to domestic violence victims. On the Saturday before Thanksgiving, Tranquility Counseling partnered with the JuJu Foundation and provided frozen turkeys to families in need. This contribution will assist in augmenting basic need programming efforts for those in need.

This matter was reviewed by Budget Manager Grace H. Yoon on November 24, 2020.

FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution to Tranquility Counseling Services at $20,000 for continued COVID-19 basic needs programming efforts. The total appropriation increase in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $20,000 is offset by the Sixth Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the Citywide Activities Department. Implementing this recommendation is anticipated to result in a minimal impact on staff hours beyond normal budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have a minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.

SUGGESTED ACTION
Approve recommendation.
