DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to amend Contract No. 34032 with Specialized Elevator Services, Inc., by increasing the contract by $155,000 and extending the term to December 31, 2020.

At its meeting on April 5, 2014, the City Council awarded a contract to Specialized Elevator Services, Inc., formerly Ascent Elevator Services, Inc., as part of the adoption of Specifications No. ITB PW15-136 for as-needed elevator supplies, in the amount of $840,000. The contract expired on July 31, 2019. To ensure continuity of services, interim Munis Contract No. 32000528 for $90,000 was issued pursuant to the City’s purchasing guidelines. The interim contract expired on June 30, 2020, and the authorized amount has been exhausted.

Due to the impacts of COVID-19, it has become more prudent to extend the original contract to allow for continuity of services while continuing to respond to the public emergency. The requested amendment for the total increase amount of $155,000, inclusive of the prior interim amount of $90,000 plus an additional $65,000, will provide for services through December 31, 2020.

This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Amy R. Webber on June 26, 2020, Deputy Finance Director Sandy Tsang-Palmer on June 22, 2020, and by Budget Management Officer Rhutu Amin Gharib on June 29, 2020.
