TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Manager, or designee, to execute all necessary documents to amend Contract No. 34275 with Los Cerritos Wetlands Stewardship, Inc., of Long Beach, CA, for the maintenance and management of environmentally sensitive areas, to increase the contract amount by $596,662, with a 15 percent contingency of $89,499, for a revised total amount not to exceed $2,547,094, and extend the term of the contract to June 30, 2021. (Districts 2,3)
DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to amend Contract No. 34275 with Los Cerritos Wetlands Stewardship, Inc. (LCWS), to increase the contract amount by $686,161 inclusive of a 15 percent contingency, to continue to provide maintenance and management of environmentally sensitive areas for the Parks, Recreation and Marine Department (PRM), and extend the term of the contract through June 30, 2021, to allow for the completion of the procurement process and transition to a new contract due to delays associated with the COVID-19 response.
LCWS will provide essential cleaning, debris removal, and green enhancements for the following covered areas:
· Golden Shore Marine Biological Reserve
· Jack Dunster Biological Reserve
· Colorado Lagoon
· Rainbow Lagoon
· Rainbow Harbor
· Sims Pond
· Marine Stadium
· Bluff Park Slopes
· Bixby Annex Slopes
· Appian Way planters
· Tidelands Capital Projects as needed
The scope of services and requirements for the covered areas are considered to be environmentally sensitive due to their proximity to wetlands, intertidal waterways and/or coastal areas, requiring a highly specialized and comprehensive type of maintenance, including maintenance of grounds and landscape, and bodies of water, including aquatic weed management, pond and culvert maintenance, and the capture and removal of waterborne debris.
