TITLE

Recommendation to receive and file an update on the activities of the Veterans Affairs Commission over the past 18 months.  (Citywide)

 

DISCUSSION

City Council adopted Ordinance No. 16-0003, officially establishing a citywide Veterans Affairs Commission (Commission), on February 9, 2016.  The Commission held its first meeting on January 13, 2017.  On November 7, 2017, the City Council directed the City Manager to work with the Department of Health and Human Services and the Commission to develop a Veterans Affairs Strategic Plan.

 

The Commission wishes to provide a brief update on the Commission’s activities over its first 18 months, including its engagement in a strategic planning process, as directed by the City Council.

 

This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Linda T. Vu on August 16, 2018 and by Revenue Management Officer Geraldine Alejo on August 22, 2018

 

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS

City Council action is requested on September 11, 2018, to receive and file an update on the activities of the Commission.

 

FISCAL IMPACT

There is no fiscal or local job impact associated with this recommendation.

 

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.
