DISCUSSION
The Public Resources Code sections 40000 et seq. authorize CalRecycle, formerly known as the California Integrated Waste Management Board, to administer various Grant Programs in furtherance of the State of California’s efforts to reduce, recycle, and reuse solid waste generated in California thereby preserving landfill capacity and protecting public health, safety, and the environment.

The City is eligible for funding from CalRecycle’s annual grant opportunities to assist with establishing beverage container recycling, litter abatement projects, develop or expand household hazardous waste collection education and source reduction, assist with tire recycling, cleanup and enforcement, and to encourage appropriate disposal and recycling of used motor oil.

This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Amy R. Webber on May 29, 2018 and by Revenue Management Officer Geraldine Alejo on June 1, 2018.
