DISCUSSION
Pacific Gateway administers the Federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and other employment and training funds received annually by the City. Those funds support job training programs and business services delivered by the Career Transition Center, Harbor Gateway WorkSource Center, and selected community-based organizations to assist local residents acquire skills leading to employment in high- demand occupations with local employers.

The dynamic mandates of WIOA, require that workforce development professionals and stakeholders consistently keep up with changes and updates, which primarily are done through participation in various staff development trainings, national and local convenings, webinars, and dialogues. In support of these strategies, our neighboring workforce development board, Southeast Los Angeles County Workforce Development Board (SELACO), is providing $6,000 in staff training support to local boards, including Pacific Gateway. Pacific Gateway will use these funds to pay for upcoming conference registration, lodging, and mileage reimbursement.
