DISCUSSION
The Public Health Institute has awarded the City of Long Beach a $40,000 capacity building grant, through its California Accountable Communities of Health Initiative (CACHI) Accelerator, to support the Health and Human Services Department (Health Department) to lead a community-wide initiative to develop an Accountable Community of Health (ACH) for children, for the period of June 1, 2017 through December 31, 2018.

The Health Department and its partners will use Public Health Institute CACHI Accelerator funding to develop the capacity of a multi-agency leadership team to establish an ACH model for All Children Thrive, creating a community environment that supports positive development in children ages zero to eight. ACH models align medical providers, non-profit organizations, communities, and government partners to support the health and wellness of the community. Activities under this funding opportunity may include: supporting policies, building a network, developing an implementation plan, engaging the community, and determining fiscal, health and developmental outcome measures. Funding will be used for the contracting of a consultant to develop the plan, Health Department staff time for facilitating community engagement sessions, travel for grant-related trainings, and expenses related to community engagement activities.
