Recommendation to authorize City Attorney to pay the sum of $33,000 in full settlement of lawsuit entitled Jacqueline C. Golison v. City of Long Beach, et al., Case No. NC050086; $10,000 in full settlement of lawsuit entitled Mendoza v. City of Long Beach, Case No. 07C04627; and $7,000 in full settlement of lawsuit entitled Progressive Choice Insurance Company v. City of Long Beach, et al., Case No. 07C04569.

On January 8,2007, Plaintiff tripped and fell on a sidewalk near 320 Glendora Avenue, in the City of Long Beach and fractured her ankle requiring surgery.
After extensive discussion, a tentative settlement of $33,000 was reached.
The Economic Development and Finance Committee approved the proposed settlement on October 7, 2008.
Mendoza v. City of Long Beach, Case No. 07C04627
This suit arises out of an automobile accident wherein a police officer, in changing lanes, struck plaintiffs' vehicle, causing injury to Alberto Mendoza and Jaime Sandoval.
The parties were able to reach a global settlement agreement of $10,000.00, subject to City Council approval.
The Economic Development and Finance Committee approved the proposed settlement on October 7, 2008.
Progressive Choice Insurance Company v. City of Long Beach, et al., Case No. 07C04569.
On or about November 21, 2007, at or near 615 E. Broadway, a Long Beach Police Department vehicle hit a parked car insured by Progressive Choice.
After extensive discussion, a tentative settlement of $7,000.00 was reached.
The Economic Development and Finance Committee approved the proposed settlement on October 7,2008.
