TITLE
Recommendation to receive and file presentation and present a proclamation in celebration of Cesar E. Chavez's legacy through support of our local Long Beach Moving Forward Citizenship and DACA Initiative Partnership: "A Brighter Future Includes New American Immigrant Families and Students".

DISCUSSION
Cesar E. Chavez (1927-1993) was a community and labor organizer in the 1950s, Chavez founded the National Farm Workers Association in 1962. As a labor leader, Chavez employed nonviolent means to bring attention to the plight of farm workers. He led marches, called for boycotts and went on several hunger strikes. He also brought national and international awareness to the dangers of pesticides to workers' health. His dedication to his work earned him numerous friends and supporters, including Robert Kennedy and Jesse Jackson.

The purpose of this proclamation is to honor the history and legacy of Cesar Chavez and to commemorate him by increasing awareness in the Long Beach community of immigration services provided by several organizations. As well as establish a partnership with all city departments specifically the Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services, Parks, Recreation and Marine and the Long Beach Public Library to offer our free immigrant integration legal services to assist residents' with USCIS N400 application completion services and provide fee waivers to successfully become naturalized citizens. The Partnership also works to assist students with deferred action for childhood arrivals to achieve higher educational goals and social economic development status.

Long Beach Moving Forward a Brighter Future Includes New American Immigrant Families and Students" is a partnership that includes IRC- Immigration Rights Coalition and ICO - Interfaith Coalition Organization. The organization is funded by the State of California Department of
