TITLE

DISCUSSION
City Council approval is being requested to enter into a contract for the purpose of acquiring four Ford F-450 trucks with custom meter service bodies installed for use by the Long Beach Department of Gas and Oil, Gas Services Bureau.

The Department of Public Works, Fleet Services Bureau, has an immediate need to purchase four Ford F-450 meter trucks. These four units were scheduled FY 07 replacements that were reviewed and approved by the Fleet Review Committee.

The bid was advertised on August 15, 2007 and 25 potential bidders chose to download the bid opportunity; none are Minority-owned Business Enterprises (MBEs), one is a Woman-owned Business Enterprise (WBE), none are Long Beach businesses, and none are certified Small Business Enterprises (SBEs). The bid document was made available from the Purchasing Division located on the Plaza Level of City Hall and the Division's website at www.lonqbeach.qov/purchasinq. A bid announcement was also included in the Purchasing Division's weekly update of Open Bid Opportunities, which is sent to 30 local, minority and women's business groups. Bids were opened on August 28,2007. Pasadena Ford of Pasadena, CA, is the lowest responsible bidder.

This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Lori A. Conway on August 6, 2007 and Budget Management Officer Victoria Bell on November 1,2007.

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
City Council action to adopt Specifications No. PA-03207 and award a contract concurrently is requested on November 13, 2007 to ensure acquisition of the vehicles in a timely manner.
