DISCUSSION
On September 5-8, I attended the League of California Cities 2007 Annual Conference and Exposition, Cities Are Shaping California's Future, in Sacramento, California.
The League of California Cities is an association of California cities who work together to educate, advocate and influence policy decisions that affect their communities. Elected officials, city staff and department personnel from over 478 cities participate in the league to enhance the quality of life for all Californians.
The purpose of the 2007 Annual Conference and Exposition was to provide information and training on how to address critical issues facing California cities. Seminar topics included: Digital Technology in Citizen-Government Interactions, Gaining and Maintaining a Great Park Program, Weaving Public Art into the Urban Fabric, Going Green-Best Practices for Your Community, How to Secure Federal Funding for Your City, Innovative Ideas to End and Prevent Homelessness, Creating Permanent Affordable Housing through Motel Conversion, Legislative Update on Redevelopment-related Issues, and more.
The workshop sessions and discussion forums help city officials obtain the information and resources needed to build better communities.
