TITLE
Recommendation to authorize a public walkways occupancy permit for sidewalk dining at Quiznos Sub located at 450 Pine Avenue. (District 1)
DISCUSSION
L & L Industries, Inc., the operator of Quiznos Sub located at 450 Pine Avenue, requests a permit to temporarily occupy part of the adjoining sidewalk for the purpose of sidewalk dining. The proposed permit area and a list of furnishings and accessories to be placed in the permit area are shown on the attached Exhibit A. Approval of this permit is based on the conditions and standards of Chapter 14.14 of the Long Beach Municipal Code, which describes temporary use of public right-of-way. The width of the public sidewalk at this location is 12 feet. A minimum clearance of 5 feet shall be maintained between the proposed permit area and the street tree adjacent to the restaurant.
This permit request was reviewed and approved by the Long Beach Fire Department on August 23, 2006. The subject permit was prepared by Deputy City Attorney Lisa Peskay Malmsten on September 13, 2006.
TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
City Council action on this matter is not time critical.
FISCAL IMPACT
A permit-processing fee of $250 was deposited to the General Fund (GP) in the Department of Public Works (PW).
