DISCUSSION
A majority of Long Beach residents (165, 092 or 35 .8%) reported their ethnicity as Hispanic in the most recent on the 2000 Census . The term Hispanic, as defined by the U .S . Census Bureau, refers to Spanish-speaking people in the United States of any race . Hispanics share a unique heritage of culture, history and commerce that is strongly ingrained and intertwined with the United States.
We feel that it is important for the City of Long Beach to join the nation in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 and October 14, 2006 .
