TITLE
Recommendation to authorize a public walkways occupancy permit for sidewalk dining at Sunnin Lebanese Café located at 5110 East Second Street. (District 3)
DISCUSSION
The operator of the Sunnin Lebanese Cafe requested a permit to temporarily occupy part of the adjoining sidewalk at 5110 East Second Street with portable fixtures for the purpose of sidewalk dining . The proposed permit area and a list of furnishings and accessories to be placed in the permit area are shown on the attached Exhibit A. Approval of this permit is based on the conditions and standards of Chapter 14 .14 of the Long Beach Municipal Code, which describes temporary uses of public rights-of-way.
The width of the sidewalk at this location is 13 .5 feet. A minimum clearance of 7 feet shall be maintained between the proposed permit area and the parking meter adjacent to the restaurant .
This permit request was reviewed and approved by the Long Beach Fire Department on March 30, 2006 . Deputy City Attorney Lisa Peskay Malmsten prepared the subject permit on July 10, 2006.
TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
City Council action on this matter is not time critical.
FISCAL IMPACT
A permit processing fee of $250 was deposited to the General Fund (GP) in the Department of Public Works (PW).
