TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Attorney to accept an easement deed for street widening adjacent to 3744 Long Beach Boulevard. (District 8)
DISCUSSION
It is the goal of the Department of Public Works to widen streets and alleys to the standards established in the City's General Plan. When significant new development is proposed, the public rights-of-way adjacent to the site are reviewed for sufficiency to accommodate the new development. For the construction of a medical office building at 3744 Long Beach Boulevard, the dedication of additional street width is recommended. This street is classified as a major arterial with a 106-foot wide right-of-way. Currently, the half-width of the street is 45 feet (east of centerline) and the sidewalk is 5 feet wide. The proposed dedication will widen the east half of the street to 53 feet (its ultimate halfwidth) and result in a 13-foot wide sidewalk. A map of the area to be dedicated is attached as Exhibit A.
The developer of the subject property agreed to development conditions that include the above-described dedication. This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Lisa Peskay Malmsten on July 17, 2006. In conformance with the California Environmental Quality Act, Categorical Exemption No. CE 06-134 was issued for this project.
TIMING CONSIDERATIONS

A document processing fee of $250 was paid by the developer and deposited in the General Fund (GP) in the Department of Public Works (PW).
