TITLE
Recommendation requesting City Attorney to prepare an amendment to Long Beach Municipal Code Section 10.22.080 to create a restriction related to the parking of "for sale" vehicles on 7th Street between Redondo Avenue and Park Avenue; and on 2nd Street between Livingston Drive and Ximeno Avenue.

DISCUSSION
The Third District Council office has received numerous complaints from residents regarding their concern over the number of parked vehicles with "For Sale" signs on them along 7th Street between Redondo Avenue and Park Avenue, and on 2nd Street between Livingston Drive and Ximeno Avenue.

With the increase in vehicles parked with "For Sale" signs on them, the neighborhood is experiencing unsafe traffic conditions. Motorists interrupt traffic flow when slowing down or stopping their vehicle to see the vehicles "For Sale".

This creates the potential for rear-end collisions. In both locations, they are double-parking to examine the cars or obtain the information off the "For Sale" sign. This is particularly a problem in the area of 7th Street where Wilson High School is located. Slowing or stopping to read the "For
Sale" information is hazardous to Wilson students coming and going to and from school.

Lastly, there are several bus stops on these portions of 7th Street and 2nd Street adding challenges to pedestrian and traffic safety.

SUGGESTED ACTION
Approve recommendation.

Respectfully Submitted,
COUNCILMEMBER FRANK COLONNA
