TITLE
Recommendation to request City Manager for a report on Public Safety Support Services within the City.

DISCUSSION
The City of Long Beach is financially burdened by activities associated
with the Fourth of July. Police and Fire services are stretched to the limits as
residents try to cope with the risk of legal and illegal activities. It should be noted that without the support of other city departments , the task of protecting our City would be virtually impossible.
There are a number of bureaus that provide critical support to allow our
sworn public safety officers to efficiently provide necessary services. The
support personnel include the animal control officers who rescue scared pets
Parks, Recreation and Marine staff who secure our marinas and keep our
beaches clean , Public Works personnel who keep our streets moving and Police
Services Assistants who help us communicate a safe and sane message.
would be impossible to provide public safety services without the tireless efforts
of our non-sworn public safety employees.  I would like to request a report on the contributions of our city employees to providing public safety related services on July 4 and other major events.
