TITLE
Recommendation to authorize a public walkways occupancy permit for sidewalk dining at Natraj Cuisine of India located at 5262 East Second Street. (District 3)
DISCUSSION
Push pinder Singh , the owner of the Natraj Cuisine of India Restaurant, requested a first time permit to temporarily occupy part of the adjoining sidewalk at 5262 East Second Street with portable fixtures for the purpose of sidewalk dining. The proposed permit area and a list of furnishings and accessories are shown on the attached Exhibit A. Approval of this permit is based on the conditions and standards of Chapter 14. 14 of the Long Beach Municipal Code, which describes temporary uses of public rights-of-way.
This permit request was reviewed and approved by the Long Beach Fire Department on February 15 , 2005. The width of the sidewalk at this location is 13. 5 feet and a minimum clearance of 5 feet shall be maintained between the permit area and the parking meter adjacent to the restaurant.
The subject permit was prepared by Deputy City Attorney Lisa Peskay Malmsten on March 1 , 2005.
TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
City Council action on this matter is not time critical.
FISCAL IMPACT
A permit processing fee of $250 was deposited to the General Fund (GP) in the
Department of Public Works (PW).
