TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Attorney to submit Stipulations with Request for Award and Vocational Rehabilitation Benefits for approval by Worker's Compensation Appeals Board, and if so approved, authority to pay $46,622.50 and $6000, in compliance with Appeals Board order for claim of Homer Williams (Case No. 295699).
DISCUSSION
Mr. Homer Williams has made a claim for injuries allegedly sustained in the course of his employment with the City of Long Beach.
The Economic Development and Finance Committee, on March 1, 2005, approved the submission to the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board of Stipulations with Request for Award by the City and Mr.
Williams, based upon a 51 percent permanent disability rating, with provision for lifetime medical care as may be necessary. The Economic Development and Finance Committee also approved on March 1, 2005 the settlement of Vocational Rehabilitation Benefits.
We, therefore, request authority to submit said Stipulations with Request for Award for approval by the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board, and if so approved, authority to pay $46,622.50 in compliance with the Appeals Board order. We also request authority to pay $6,000.00 to Mr. Williams in settlement of his Vocational Rehabilitation Benefits. The total settlement amount is $52,622.50.
