TITLE
Recommendation to receive and file a report on the use of Neighborhood Electric Vehicles on City streets.
DISCUSSION
On October 7, 2008, the City Council referred an agenda item to the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Environmental Committee regarding the use of Neighborhood Electric Vehicles (NEVs) on City streets (Attachment A).
The Municipal Code does not currently regulate the use of NEV's on City streets. After concluding its research, staff believes that current regulations in the State's Vehicle Code are sufficient to allow the continued use of NEVs by residents throughout the City and that amendment of the LBMC is not necessary.
TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
Committee action is requested on March 4, 2014, in order to clear this item from the Environmental Committee's docket.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact associated with this item.
