TITLE
Recommendation to respectfully request City Manager to examine methods that would increase parking spaces on E. 20th Street between Orange Avenue and Walnut Avenue; and request City Manager to seek community input in developing a solution to parking impact and consider diagonal parking in this neighborhood on E. 20th Street.

DISCUSSION
Throughout Long Beach, we have communities with severe parking shortages. We need to consider approaches that will increase on-street parking. One approach, as requested by some residents on E. 20th Street, would be to allow residents to park diagonally on the street with the goal of increasing the number of spaces that can be used. In addition, please consider asking neighbors such as Mary Butler School, 1400 E. 20th Street, and Long Beach City College, 1305 E. Pacific Coast Hwy, to allow weekend parking. We need to ensure that we have adequate public input regarding this solution.

SUGGESTED ACTION
Approve recommendation.
