TITLE
Recommendation to adopt resolution designating the ballot order of candidates that have been nominated for the April 12, 2016 City of Long Beach Primary Nominating Election.
DISCUSSION
On November 10,2015, the City Council adopted a resolution calling and giving notice of the April 12, 2016 Gity of Long Beach Primary Nominating Election.
With the close of the candidate nomination period on January 15, 2016, the City Clerk is ",required to submit the attached resolution for adoption pursuant to City Charter Section 1907, which serves to certify the list of candidates who were duly nominated for City Council Districts Two, Six, and Eight, and identify the order in which their names will appear on the official ballot.
The recommended resolution includes a listing of candidates for contests in the Long Beach Community College District and the Long Beach Unified School District as certified by the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk. Candidates for the foregoing contests are listed in the order in which they will appear on the official ballot.
TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
Approval of the recommended action at this time will allow the Office of the City Clerk to prepare the official ballot and sample ballot booklet.
FISCAL IMPACT
The Office of the City Clerk budget contains the appropriations necessary to conduct the April 12, 2016 Primary Nominating Election.
