TITLE
Recommendation to request City Manager to prepare within the next 30 days a funding report on the amount of state funding received
(compared with the top 25 cities and neighboring cities) and federal funding received (compared with the top 75-100 cities and neighboring cities) in the recent funding cycle; and a listing of funding projects (within and outside Long Beach) successfully obtained by our legislators.

DISCUSSION
The recent state and federal funding cycles have serious implications on the
funding of various city initiatives and programs. Due to the efforts of city staff,
elected and appointed officials and our lobbyists, the city has been successful in
obtaining funds from both the state and federal governments. I am requesting
that the City Council be updated on those results.
It is my understanding that there are organizations that track funding by city. It
would be helpful to see how the City of Long Beach compares to other cities in
this regard.
