TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the Tidelands Fund
(TF 411) and the Department of Public Works (PW) by $190,000 for the purchase of up to 20 multi-space parking meters for installation in the Rainbow Harbor area.  (District 2)

DISCUSSION
On June 5, 2007, the City Council approved an appropriation increase in the Tidelands Fund (TF411) for Fiscal Year 2007 for the purchase of up to 20 multi-space parking meters for the Rainbow Harbor area; however, the parking meters were not received in Fiscal Year 2007 and the appropriation was not used. The parking meters will be received in October 2007; therefore, an appropriation increase for Fiscal Year 2008 is necessary.

A copy of the original council letter from June 5, 2007, and the resolution authorizing solesource purchase of the equipment are attached.

This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Lori A. Conway on October 10,2007, and Budget Management Officer Victoria Bell on October 11 , 2007.

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
City Council action on this matter is requested on October 23, 2007 to allow payment for the above equipment.

FISCAL IMPACT
Funding for the multi-space parking meters in the amount of $190,000 is unbudgeted for FY08; therefore, an appropriation increase is requested in the Tidelands Fund (TF 411) in the Department of Public Works (PW).
