TITLE
Recommendation to receive and file an oral report as an update on the Everyone Home Long Beach Initiative. (Citywide)
DISCUSSION
On December 11, 2018, the City Council adopted the Everyone Home Long Beach (EHLB) Initiative to address housing and homelessness in the City of Long Beach (City). Designed to build on the City’s comprehensive homeless services and affordable housing efforts already underway, EHLB sought innovative approaches to provide new pathways into housing and to prevent residents from falling into homelessness.
The EHLB Initiative includes specific goals and recommendations to guide the City’s next steps to end homelessness. These goals include:
• Strengthening Governance and Increasing Funding;
• Increasing Housing Access;
• Reducing Homelessness;
• Employing People; Supporting Families;
• Connecting to Health; and,
• Developing Population-Based Service Models.
Staff will provide an oral report on progress to date on these EHLB Initiative goals.
This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Taylor M. Anderson and Budget Analysis Officer Greg Sorensen on July 22, 2021.
