TITLE
Recommendation to request City Manager or designee to accept an easement deed for sidewalk widening at 4900 East Conant Street.  (District 5)

DISCUSSION
It is the goal of the Department of Public Works to widen sidewalks, streets and alleys to the standards established in the City's General Plan.  when property is subdivided, the municipal code required that public rights-of-way adjacent to the subdivision site be made consistent with our standards.   For the subdivision of two lots and a lot line adjustment at 4900 East Conant Street, the dedication of additional sidewalk width is required.  In particular, the dedication recommended is as follows:

A six-foot wide sidewalk easement shoudl be provided along Conant Street in order to widen the sidewalk from four feet to ten fee wide.

The Boeing company, the developer of the subject property, agreed to development conditions that include the above-described dedication.  In conformance with the California Environmental Quality Act, Negative Declaration NO. ND-12-08 was issued for this project.

this matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Linda Trang on December 11, 2008 and Budget Management Officer Victoria Bell on December 22, 2008.

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
City Council action on this matter is not time critical.

FISCAL IMPACT
A document processing fee of $519 was paid by the developer and deposited in the General Fund (GP 100) in the department of Public works (PW).
