TITLE
Recommendation to receive and file report from the Long Beach Innovation Team.
DISCUSSION
In December of 2014, Bloomberg Philanthropies announced that long Beach would be awarded $3 million over three year to fund an Innovation Team, or "i-team", comprised of a new Chief Innovation Officer, a social scientist researcher, a data programmer, a designer, and technology innovation fellows, and which would initially focus on economic development, advising the City on how best to stimulate growth, create jobs, and leverage City resources. The team began work in May, and as we near the six month mark of the team's work, a report to Council on its projects and progress is appropriate.
