TITLE
Recommendation to authorize the Department of Development Services to process a refund in the amount of $32,620 to KPRS Construction Services, Inc., for the project located at 1 World Trade Center. (District 2)
DISCUSSION
During Fiscal Year 2018, KPRS Construction Services, Inc., paid building permit fees and surcharges totaling $76,604.01 for a project located at 1 World Trade Center. The applicant was charged twice for a Construction and Demolition Debris Recycling deposit, plus applicable administrative fees and surcharges. As a result, the applicant is eligible for a refund in the amount of $32,620.
In accordance with Long Beach Municipal Code Section 3.48.040, refunds exceeding $10,000 must be approved by the City Attorney and City Council. Approval to process the refund is requested on behalf of the applicant.
This matter was reviewed by Assistant City Attorney Michael J. Mais on February 1, 2018 and by Budget Analysis Officer Julissa José-Murray on February 5, 2018.
TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
City Council action is requested on March 6, 2018, to expedite processing of the refund and return of deposit.
FISCAL IMPACT
The amount of $32,620 will be refunded from the Development Services Fund (EF 337) in the Development Services Department (DV). There is no local job impact associated with this recommendation.
