DISCUSSION
The subject agreement is to perform an assessment of the existing traffic sign inventory,
conduct a physical inventory of traffic signs and markings using digital data acquisition
devices .and integrate the data collection into the City’s current GIs-based asset
management and work order system.
The Traffic and Transportation Bureau of the Public Works Department maintains street
name signs, regulatory traffic signs, traffic markings and traffic control devices covering
the City’s approximately 815 miles of streets. This assessment and inventory will
identify the current field conditions of all of the signs and markings in the City, and will
allow staff to prioritize and forecast ongoing maintenance in a more efficient and cost-
effective manner.
Woolpert, Inc., was selected as the most qualified provider of the services desired
through a competitive Request for Qualifications (RFQ) process in accordance with
Administrative Regulation 8-4, “Selecting Professional Consultants.” The RFQ was
posted on the Public Works website. Four statements of qualifications were received,
three firms were invited for oral interviews, and as a result Woolpert, Inc., is
recommended to provide the services requested.
