DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to enter into a contract with Waterline Technologies, Inc., for the purpose of providing pool chemicals, supplies, and services. Waterline Technologies, Inc. provides necessary chemicals and parts to maintain public pool operations and maintain City water fountains. Any interruptions to this service will impact the Parks, Recreation and Marine Department’s (PRM) ability to meet health code standards, which would result in pool and water fountain closures.

The bid was advertised in the Long Beach Press-Telegram on October 27, 2021, and 373 potential bidders specializing in pool chemicals, parts, and services were notified of the bid opportunity. Of those bidders, 14 downloaded the bid via the City’s electronic bid system. The bid document was made available from the Purchasing Division, located on the sixth floor of City Hall, and the Division’s website at www.longbeach.gov/purchasing . A bid announcement was also included in the Purchasing Division’s weekly update of Open Bid Opportunities, which is sent to 39 local, minority-owned, and women-owned business groups. There were two bids received on November 11, 2021. Of those two bidders, one was a Minority-owned Business Enterprise (MBE), none were Women-owned Business Enterprises (WBEs), none were certified Small Business Enterprises (SBEs), and none were Long Beach vendors (Local).
