TITLE
Recommendation to the City Council to concur in the recommendation of the Economic Development Committee to receive and adopt the appointment of eleven (11) members to the Environmental Commission.
 
DISCUSSION
The Economic Development Committee, at its meeting held, Monday, May 8, 2006, considered communications relative to the above subject.
 
It is the recommendation of the Economic Development Committee to refer back to the full City Council to form an Environmental Commission. The Committee recommended that the Commission be composed of a representative, with knowledge of environmental issues from each Council district, along with two Mayoral appointees. They also recommended that the work of the Commission be focused on actions related to the following four goals from the Strategic Plan
2010:
 
1. Becoming a sustainable city.
2. Enhance open space.
3. Improve management of water resources and restore wetlands and riparian habitat.
4. Improve air quality.
