TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $1,000, offset by $500 Fifth Council District One-time District Priority Funds, $250 Third Council District One-time District Priority Funds, $250 Fourth Council District One-time District Priority Funds, transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a contribution to the McBride High School Criminal Justice & Investigation Booster Club for their October 26, 2023 Community Trunk or Treat Event; and
Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $1,000 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.
DISCUSSION
On October 25, 2023, the McBride High School Criminal Justice & Investigation Booster Club will host a Community Trunk or Treat event for Long Beach students and their families. Supplemental funding was needed for this community event organization’s mission to improve academic and personal success for Long Beach youth through collaboration and innovative approaches to mentoring and learning.
This matter has been reviewed by Budget Analyst Joe R. Guerrero on October 16, 2023.
FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution to the McBride High School Criminal Justice & Investigation Booster Club in support of the event as written above. The total appropriation increase of $1,000 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of Fifth, Third, and Fourth Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. This recommendation is anticipated to have a minimal impact on staff hours beyond the budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have a minimal impact on existing City Council priorities. There is no local job impact associated with this recommendation.
