TITLE

DISCUSSION

City Council approval is requested to increase the annual contracted amount with Cattrac Construction, Inc., (Cattrac), from $100,000 to $200,000. Cattrac furnishes the Department with heavy equipment and operators to complete the City's annual beach renourishment project. The increase reflects the need to effectively address the City's current beach erosion problems.

Cattrac was selected for the beach renourishment project in Fiscal Year 2005 (FY 05), as a result of the City's bid process. Bid notifications were sent utilizing the Purchasing Division's bid management system. The bid document was made available from the Purchasing Division located on the Plaza Level of City Hall and the Division's website at www.lbpurchasinq.orq. A bid announcement was also included in the Purchasing Division's weekly update of Open Bid Opportunities sent to 32 local, minority, and women's groups and there were two responses to the bid notifications. The bids were opened on November 8, 2004. Upon analysis of the bids, the contract was awarded to Cattrac for an amount not to exceed $100,000, with a one-year option to renew.

The City issued a purchase order to Cattrac Construction Inc., for an annual amount not to exceed $100,000. Due to the severity of beach erosion occurrences, days of operation will be increased by the contractor resulting in a larger area of renourishment being accomplished.
