TITLE
Recommendation to adopt resolution authorizing City Manager to accept $1.5 million in grant funds from the California State Coastal Conservancy for the DeForest Park Wetlands Restoration project; and execute any documents necessary for the administration of the project. (Districts 8,9)
DISCUSSION
On January 24, 2012, the City Council authorized the City Manager to accept and appropriate $1.5 million in grant funds from the California State Coastal Conservancy (Conservancy) for the DeForest Park Wetlands Restoration project (Attachment). At that time, the Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine was unaware that the Conservancy required that the action be made through a Resolution. The January 24, 2012, City Council letter delineates both the action taken by City Council and the project description.
This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Gary J. Anderson on April 23, 2012, and Budget Management Officer Victoria Bell on April 27, 2012.
TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
City Council action is requested on May 15, 2012, in order to provide the certified Resolution to the California State Coastal Conservancy in a timely manner.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no further fiscal impact in addition to the City Council action taken on January 24, 2012.

Approve recommendation.
